Please read these terms carefully before using CodeTalky. They're written in plain language — no legalese.

You CAN

  • Discuss code, projects, and technical ideas
  • Share code snippets and architecture decisions
  • Create private rooms for team collaboration
  • Use the service for professional or personal dev work

You CANNOT

  • Spamming or flooding any channel
  • Sharing illegal or abusive content
  • Impersonating other users or CodeTalky staff
  • Attempting to attack, scrape, or exploit the platform

1. Acceptance of Terms

  • By accessing or using CodeTalky, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
  • If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use the service.
  • These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use CodeTalky.

2. Use of the Service

  • CodeTalky is a free, privacy-first real-time chat service for developers.
  • You are responsible for all content you post and all activity that occurs under your session.
  • You may not use the service for any illegal or unauthorised purpose, including but not limited to financial fraud or harassment.
  • CodeTalky provides no moderation of private rooms, and we are NOT responsible for the content shared therein.

3. Acceptable Use

  • Do not post spam, malware, phishing links, or anything malicious.
  • Do not harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
  • Do not attempt to exploit, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the service.
  • Public rooms are visible to all users — treat them like a public forum.

4. Content Ownership

  • You retain ownership of content you post.
  • You grant CodeTalky a limited license to display your messages to other users in the same room.
  • Because messages are stored in-memory and not persisted, there is no long-term storage of your content.

5. Disclaimer of Liability

  • CodeTalky is provided 'as is' without any guarantee of uptime or availability.
  • Under no circumstances shall CodeTalky or its maintainers be liable for any user misuse, data leaks caused by user negligence, or financial loss.
  • We do not monitor private conversations and expressly disclaim all liability for any illegal or inappropriate content posted by users.

6. Termination

  • We reserve the right to terminate or restrict your access if you violate these terms.
  • You may stop using the service at any time by leaving chat and clearing your session.

7. Indemnity & Limitation

  • You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CodeTalky and its maintainers from any claims, damages, or losses resulting from your use of the service or breach of these terms.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
  • Our total liability, in any case, shall not exceed zero dollars ($0), as no money is exchanged for usage of the service.

8. Changes to Terms

  • We may revise these Terms of Service at any time.
  • Changes are effective immediately upon posting.
  • Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
