What Are Cookies?

  • Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website.

  • CodeTalky does NOT use cookies. We use the browser's built-in localStorage API instead.

What We Use Instead

  • We use localStorage to store your session data (userId, username, chat background preference).
  • localStorage data is stored entirely on your device and is never sent to our servers automatically.
  • This data persists between browser sessions until you explicitly clear it or leave the chat.

What We DON'T Use

  • We do NOT use any tracking cookies.
  • We do NOT use analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel).
  • We do NOT use advertising or marketing cookies.
  • We do NOT set any third-party cookies.

Managing Your Data

  • To clear your session data, click 'Leave Chat' inside the app — this removes all localStorage entries.
  • You can also manually clear site data via your browser's Developer Tools → Application → Local Storage.
  • Clearing this data means you'll start a fresh session next time you visit.

Third-Party Cookies

  • Our hosting provider (Vercel) may set infrastructure-level cookies for load balancing and security purposes.
  • These are strictly necessary for the service to function and are not used for tracking.
